The Lions girls’ golf team won the eight-team Maquoketa Invitational on Wednesday, April 17.
The Lions topped West Delaware by one stroke, 385 to 386. Kaylie Kelchen was the runner-up medalist with an 88.
“I was really proud of how the girls competed through the windy conditions,” Lisbon coach Andy Kahl said. “Not only did they all play well, but they maintained great attitudes throughout the round.”
Kahl said he was very impressed by Carie Johnson, who tallied two birdies and carded a 97.
On Monday, April 15, the Lions carded a 183 at Little Bear Country Club in Wyoming to beat Midland, which did not have enough golfers to post a score.
Johnson had a 41 for the Lions.
On Friday, April 19, Lisbon topped South Tama, 191 to 227 at Kernoustie Golf Club. Brooke Ellyson was medalist with a 44.
A dual Tuesday, April 16, against Bellevue Marquette was cancelled due to weather.
