Lillian “Sally” Rummelhart, 89, of Newton, died Friday, April 5, 2024, at Newton Village.
A family graveside service will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery in Iowa City, Iowa.

Lillian Joan “Sally” Littrell was born the daughter of Ralph and Arlene Littrell February 26, 1935 in Iowa City. She graduated from City High School in Iowa City. She received a nursing degree from Mercy School of Nursing in Iowa City.
Sally started a nursing career in California as a surgical nurse. She moved back to Iowa City and she worked at Mercy Hospital. Sally was united in marriage to Melvin Clair Rummelhart on August 22, 1959. Sally and Mel and their children moved to Grinnell, Iowa in 1971. She was a homemaker and raised their children. Eventually, Sally went back to work as a clinical nurse for Dr. Kuncitis at his practice in Grinnell and then Dr. Rushley. Sally finished her career as an RN at the Mayflower in Grinnell.
Sally loved to keep busy with her volunteering and various hobbies; sewing was a favorite. She enjoyed sharing this talent and made many dresses for the children in Haiti. She also loved making her famous sugar cookies for family and friends, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and she never missed an episode of As the World Turns. Sally had an impact on those around her. Her kindness, and positivity were infectious, but it was her unwavering faith in God that got her through the ups and downs of life.
Sally is survived by her daughters, Deb (Gary) Clinch of Colfax, IA, Deannie (John) Hoyt of Trinity, FL, Julie (Greg) McManus of Buffalo Prairie, IL, and Missy (Gene) Hauser of Ankeny, IA; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and numerous four-legged grandbabies. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin Rummelhart; her daughters, Susie and Laurie Rummelhart; and her brother, Linus Littrell.
