Mount Vernon opened its dual season with a 8-1 win over Union on Friday, April 5, in Mount Vernon.
“It was so nice to finally get our first meet in the books,” Mount Vernon coach Crystal Eskelsen said. “We played well up and down the line.”
The wins were convincing, with the Mustangs only giving up nine sets over their five singles wins. Jordan Bleile and Kelsey Kamerling led the way at the top two spots.
“Competition is a quick teacher and we are better as a team following the meet,” Eskelsen said.
The original season-opener against Marion on Thursday, April 4, was rescheduled to Tuesday, April 9, due to weather.
