Mount Vernon overpowered Anamosa 6-0 on Thursday, March 28, at Downing Field.
TJ Nosbisch had a hat trick (three goals) while Jacob Yock, Cole McDermott and Lukas Schrock each added one.
“It was good to get a result, on the road, keep a clean sheet for 80 minutes and get 22 players on the field for some good minutes,” Mount Vernon coach Nathan Grosse said.
Carter Gadberry had two assists, with one apiece for Luke Stephens, Matthew Mayhew and Caleb Bartelt. Andrew Barns and Uwen Boettcher combined for three saves while recording a shutout in goal.
“We have really only been together for two weeks, so there are obviously areas we are working on and will continue to work on,” Grosse said. “I have been very happy with all 40 guys in the program.”
