Mount Vernon School Board’s levy rate has dropped this year from $17.54 per $1,000 to $17.4155 per thousand, a decrease of $0.13.
Business manager Michael Marshall said that drop has occurred at the same time as property valuations have increased for citizens in the school district. That means the school is able to generate more funding from the levy rate, as the higher valuations of property will generate more tax revenue from the district.
Citizen John Rife asked how the raised valuations of homes in Mount Vernon will impact Mount Vernon residents. The board did not answer the question, but said they would follow up.
No other comments were held during the public hearing.
