Men’s distance runners Fisher Isaacson and Noah Lutzke captured titles Thursday as the Rams opened the 2024 outdoor season with a select squad competing at the Central Dutch Invitational.
Isaacson turned in an impressive victory in the 1500, beating 43 competitors with a time of 4:02.73. The junior took first by nearly three full seconds over Southwestern’s Chase Oates. Isaacson also placed third in the 800, crossing in 1:58.61.
Lutzke cruised to a win in the 12-man 3000, clocking a personal record of 9:10.43. He finished eight seconds ahead of his nearest challenger.
Caleb Schopen placed fifth in the 3000 steeplechase (10:23.45).
On the women’s side, all-American Natalie McAllister made her 2024 debut with a runner-up effort in the 100 hurdles. Her time of 15.19 ranks 26th nationally this outdoor season.
Sophomore Alyza Koppes finished third out of 32 runners in the 1500 (4:55.29). She was eighth in the 800 (2:23.67).
