Over spring break, the precast walls were set for the career and technical education wing and weight room portions of the building.
“Next up is that workers will install the block on the inside of the building, then the precast hollow core,” said board member John Baker. “That will be followed by the roof deck and then the roof.”
Baker said that the project is still on schedule for an August completion, and that work for cuts to the floor in the lobby will wait until March 29 to occur.
“More extensive work in that lobby will wait until after the school has closed for the year,” Baker said.
Board member Allan Mallie said that the crews have had great communication on the project, especially with major changes.
“I think this whole thing is going as smoothly as expected with the weather we’ve been having this winter,” Mallie said.
Mallie and Baker have also been doing a close inspection of the building with Rod Kelley to prioritize repairs for the building for future projects.
