The Lisbon boys’ track team wasn’t interested in blowing out the lineup at the Tri-Rivers Indoor Meet on Friday, March 22, at the University of Dubuque.
“This meet was an opportunity to run some of our younger guys and put them in positions in individual race or on relays to see how they respond to competition,” Lisbon Coach Lonnie Speidel said. “Our field event guys competed at a high level and showed we can score a lot of points at the outdoor conference meet in those events.”
Lisbon finished first (Daylin Schaffer) and third (Grayson Wollumn) in the long jump, third in the high jump (Mason Lehmer) and runner-up (Jonah Reiling) and fourth (Kael Chappell) in the shot put.
Also earning gold for the Lions was Tiernan Boots in the 55 meters, Gage Holub in the 55 hurdles, and the 4×400 team of Holub, Dakota Clark, Baylor Speidel and Michael Gadberry.
ON the girls side, Addy Happel won the 55-meter sprint in 7.63 seconds. She also ran anchor on the winning 4×200 relay.
“It was a solid performance,” coach Brett Epperly said. “We are really looking forward to starting outdoors this week in Mount Vernon.”
