First Street Community Center Theater was packed Saturday, March 23, as a concert honoring Dale Beeks was held.
Eight different bands performed songs and shared memories of the late Dale Beeks and his impact on music across the Midwest while raising money in donations.
Steve Maravetz and Pete Raine were the organizers of the event, with support from the Mount Vernon Area Arts Council and Rick and Trude Elliott.
“Dale was a lynchpin that held so many different musical groups together,” Raine said.
Bands that played included Lillywren, Woosley and Friends, the Abbe Creek Collective, The 100s, Balderdash Ditty, Robert “One Man Band” Johnson, Waubeek Trackers and the Mississippi String Collective.
