Wayne Allen Berry of Gilbert, Ariz., passed away peacefully Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024. A celebration of life was held Saturday, Feb. 24, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Green Acres Mortuary and Cemetery in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Wayne was born in Cedar Rapids on May 18, 1937. He graduated from Mount Vernon High School and went on to serve for the United States Air Force. This was followed by a distinguished career in satellite communications, notably with GTE Sylvania, Fairchild Data and Intellicom. He married his beloved Hélène E. Berry June 14, 1986, in Tempe, Ariz.
Wayne had a passion for everything electronic, loved boating, waterskiing and his Schnauzers.
He is survived by his wife Hélène, his children Susan Beer, Steve Berry (Leah), Michelle Hill (Dimitry) and Steve Elkin (Cynthia). He is also survived by his grandchildren Addison and Isaac, Walker and Grace, Alexandra and Derek. His brother LeRoy, nieces Lisa Berry and LuAnn Case and spouses will have fond memories of Wayne.
