Work has started on the Washington and Main Street intersection and sidewalks that was part of the water main project left partially completed at the end of 2023.
Brecke Construction is tearing up portions of Washington and Main Street intersection right now and putting down a more permanent road surface, according to city engineer David Schechinger.
Mayor Doug O’Connor encouraged citizens to be patient with the crews working on this water main project for the next few weeks. This project is completing the promised work to infrastructure improvements made last year.
After the two weeks of work on the intersection, crews will then be working on the sidewalks around Main Street and Washington Street and fixing a number of tripping hazards in those sidewalks as part of the water main project.
Lisbon Library, Hills Bank and Trust, Lloyd Table Company and the Lisbon History Center have all been in communication on the project. The Lisbon History Center will be closed during the work on the sidewalks portion, due to the impact to handicap accessibility to the building being impacted at that time.
Lisbon Library patrons are invited to utilize the door at Southeast Linn Community Center when work is happening to the sidewalks in front of the building. Hills Bank will have access to their building from a door along Washington Street while sidewalk work happens along Main Street.
Public works director Travis Bagby said that crews are also working to patch up areas and yards that had been disturbed from snow plowing during the winter months.
“We’ll be looking to get many of these yards back to looking good,” Bagby said.
