Mount Vernon hosted the district individual speech contest Saturday, Feb. 24.
“We had a very good day,” said coach Tawnua Tenley. “Only three folks on the team did not qualify for the state contest, and almost the entire team volunteered in some capacity with the contest hosting.”
Students were coached by Tenley, Mary Horst, and Grant Freeman.
Mount Vernon had 39 events advance to state competition at Cedar Rapids Xavier on Saturday, Feb. 24.
