The Mount Vernon Area Arts Council (MVAAC) offers grants up to $500 for projects and programs including visual, performance- based, and literary arts. In 2023, MVAAC made awards for a poetry/photography book and a Southeast Linn youth program. In past years, MVAAC grants have supported school projects including new kilns and the production of Little Free Libraries; local theatre; community murals; and concerts.
MVAAC, founded in 2004, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting local arts and culture. Dr. Tiffany Carr, president of the Mount Vernon Area Arts Council, shares, “In the past five years, more than $17,000 has been awarded for arts & culture projects that support our mission to increase the knowledge, understanding, cooperation, appreciation and practice of the arts within the Mount Vernon-Lisbon area,” said Dr. Tiffany Carr, president of the Mount Vernon Area Arts Council.
