Big’s Barbecue and Brew Pub is making the move to uptown Mount Vernon and closing the doors of their Second Avenue location.
Owner Jimmy Rambo said the restaurant’s last day at the Second Avenue location was Saturday, Jan. 28.
“We have about a week’s worth of work to get the space on Main Street complete,” Rambo said. “Our opening of that location in uptown is dependent on passage of an inspection by Linn County Planning and Zoning’s building division before we can move forward with the needed public health inspections of the space.”
He is hoping by middle of February they are open in the Main Street location.
Once Linn County Planning and Zoning give the go ahead, Rambo said the crew will be moving kitchen equipment and items from the Second Avenue location to their new space on Main Street.
“Anyone who wants to help volunteer to help us move items to the new kitchen between now and then, we’d appreciate the help,” Rambo said.
Rambo said it is bittersweet to be closing their business on Second Avenue, which has been their home for the restaurant and brew pub for the last three years, but he and Nannette, co-owner, are excited for the new space to open in uptown Mount Vernon in the coming weeks.
