It was a weird week for the Lisbon Lions girls basketball program.
On Tuesday, the Lions upset Bellevue Marquette for the second time this season. The Lions prevailed against the previously-ranked Mohawks, 63-55.
“For whatever reason, we match up well with them,” Lisbon Coach Nate Hutcheson said. “And we shot lights out that game. … I guess we got all our makes for the week.”
That’s foreshadowing. The Lions lost to West Branch 35-28 on Thursday, shooting a rancid 0-for-28 from 3-point range.
“There’s going to be nights like that,” Hutcheson said. “When you’re missing shots, you’ve got too make sure to buckle down. The girls tried. It was a great learning experience.”
Despite all the missed shots, Lisbon led at half 16-10.
Sophomore Kamryn Kahl led with nine points thanks to a 5-of-5 performance at the foul line. Freshman Morgan Sauser had seven points and eight rebounds. Lisbon fell to 5-10.
Against Marquette, Kahl had 24 points and nine rebounds, and Sauser had 18 points and nine rebounds.
Big win, weird loss for Lisbon girls
