Sutliff Bridge authority scholarshipThe Sutliff Bridge Authority wants to tell the story and history of the Sutliff Bridge located in northeast Johnson County. Education is a key element in preserving historical sites. With the addition of a permanent scholarship given to those who promote our mission, the SBA is fulfilling an important function to our historical heritage.
A total of three scholarships are open for 2024 graduates. One is a $1,500 Don Nost Memorial/Sutliff Bridge Authrority scholarship awarded to one student from the Lisbon School District. The other two are $500 scholarships chosen from all applicants rom schools including Lisbon, Mount Vernon, North Cedar, Tipton, West Branch and Solon.
The SBA Scholarship requires you to only provide basic information about yourself and write a 500-1000 word essay on why historical preservation is important to you and your community. Lisbon Booster club holding casino night fundraiser The Lisbon Pride Booster Club is holding a casino night fundraiser at Tin Roof Hideaway and Event Center Saturday, Jan. 27, from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $50 each, and include a commemorative Lisbon Lions Key Tag that will get you into the event, starting chips to gamble with, one free drink ticket and one free raffle ticket. Games at the event include black jack, poker, roulette, live auctions, 50/50 drawing and silent auction. Attendees must be 21 or older to attend.
The Lisbon Pride Boosters have been very supportive of the Activities Department over the years. Specifically, during the course of the 2022-2023 school year, they donated more than $45,000 towards HUDL, the new marching band uniforms, 25 percent of state hotels and meals for students, and money towards the purchase of a new wrestling mat. Due to the group’s ongoing support, it has also allowed the activities department to directly benefit as this is $45,000 that has been able to be spent elsewhere. This includes near $20,000 in state hotel/meal expenses, new uniforms, volleyball net system, and many other purchases.
