Carlos Macias, 27, of Florida was injured in a vehicle crash along Hwy. 30 Friday, Jan. 5. He was transported by Lisbon-Mount Vernon Ambulance Service to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
According to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office, Batchuluun Sharkhuu, 47, of New Albany, Ind., was eastbound in a 2022 Freightliner at 5:29 p.m. He attempted to negotiate a U-turn from Highway 30 Eastbound to Hwy. 30 Westbound at the intersection of Hwy. 30 and Irish Lane. When turning, he pulled into the path of a gray 2002 Ford truck operated by Carlos Macias, 23, of Florida, who was westbound on Hwy. 30.
Rescue workers freed Macias from the wreckage of the truck and transported him to area hospital.
The collision closed a portion of Hwy. 30 for a period of time as crews worked to free Macias from the wreckage and then move the vehicles from the roadway.
Sharkhuu was cited for failure to yield upon entering a through highway.
Other agencies responding to the crash included Lisbon Mount Vernon Police Department, Lisbon Fire Department and Mount Vernon Fire Department.
