Heidi Lee (Cregar) Alvis, 45, of Swansboro, N.C. passed away Sunday, Dec. 24, 2023 at Vidant Hospital in Greenville, N.C. with her family by her side. Heidi was struck by a motor vehicle Dec. 19 while on her daily run.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
She was born Dec. 18, 1978 in DeWitt. A graduate of UNC/Chapel Hill, Heidi was a retired Naval Officer and NICU nurse at the Naval Hospital aboard Camp Lejeune. She attended Lisbon and Mt. Vernon, elementary schools and Mt. Vernon H.S.
She was an avid runner. She loved to spend time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Todd Alvis; daughter Jenna Alvis of the home; sons Tristen Alvis, a Midshipman at the United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md and Richard Bode Alvis of the home; parents, Richard and Virginia Cregar of Preemption, Ill.; and sisters, Mercedes Cregar of Glenmoore, Pa. and Genevieve Flanagan of Heidelberg, Germany.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
