Iowa Democrats are, indeed, holding caucuses this year. Mount Vernon/Lisbon area Democrats will meet in the Mount Vernon High School Commons, 731 Palisades Rd SW, on Monday evening, January 15. Included are Bertram, Brown, Franklin, and Putnam Townships as well as Mount Vernon 1 and Mount Vernon 2 precincts. Doors open at 6 p.m. Attendees must be seated or in line by 7 p.m. Only registered Democrats can participate; however, anyone who will be 18 or older on election day can
register at the event with identification. An area for non-participating guests will be provided. The caucus is scheduled for one hour to accomplish party business. Presidential preference caucusing will not occur at this event; presidential caucus cards may be requested at iowademocrats.org/caucus, by calling the Iowa Democratic Party at 515-216-389, or by filling out a request form at the caucus. These cards must be mailed to the Iowa Democratic Party, postmarked on or before March 5.
