Art and literature have always gone hand-in-hand, which is why Cole Library is so excited to team up with the Mount Vernon Area Arts Council to host an art exhibit for Mount Vernon’s first Artist-in-Residence, Sarah Lynn Fitzgerald.
Join Fitzgerald Sunday, Jan. 21, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the library’s third floor gallery space for the opening of her show. An artist’s talk is scheduled for 3 p.m. The show, Fanciful Vignettes, is made up of drawings, painting, and photo collages set in nature, and combines elements of plants, animals, insects, and humans. Many pieces have a whimsical feel, that Fitzgerald relates to “our ever evolving need to adapt to the changing world.”
Examples of Fitzgerald’s work can be found on her Instagram: @sarahlynnfitzgerald. If you’re unable to attend the opening, the show runs through the beginning of March, and may be visited anytime the library is open.
