I don’t know about you, but I’m not checking out beach reads in winter. While others might be dreaming of sand and sun, I’m bunkering down with a cup of tea and a book set in the tundra.
If, like me, you’re in search of stories set in midwinter, look no farther than our January book display. Located by the first floor circulation desk, this display is stocked with books set in arctic conditions. There, you will find all genres of fiction – ice-cold murder mysteries, frigid family sagas, chilling horror, snow-swept romances, and even frozen fantasy.
Popular titles include One by One by Ruth Ware, The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah, The Shining by Stephen King, Doctor Zhivago by Boris Pasternak, and The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden.
While you’re checking out a winter read of your own, don’t forget to pick up an entry slip for the library’s Win-ter Reading Challenge. This program for adults runs December through January. Receive an entry ticket for every book you finish or time you stop into the library. So, celebrate winter reading this month with a book from Cole Public Library.
