The Mount Vernon-Lisbon girls’ wrestling squad won its first dual of the season, topping Clear Creek Amana, 78-3, on Thursday, Dec. 7, in Tiffin.
The Mustangs were helped by nine forfeits. MVL also got pins from Kaylee Kintzel (155), Libby Dix (190), and Kiersten Swart (110).
Then on Saturday, Dec. 9, the Mustangs finished in second at the 23-team Marion Tournament.
Mount Vernon-Lisbon crowned three champions – Kiersten Swart (110), Grace Pinckney (170) and Libby Dix (190).
Swart had three pins in her four wins, topping Angelina Roling of Highland for the title.
Pinckney went 5-0 with five pins, including a second-period pin over Ashley Lantz of Marion in the championship.
Dix had three wins by pin, and beat Brooklyn Graham of East Buchanan for gold, by decision, 3-1.
