The Mount Vernon Mustang Archery team traveled down Hwy. 1 to compete against Solon and Prairie in the Solon Archery Tri Tournament. Last week, the Mustang Archers kicked off their season with an exceptional performance in South Tama, this week, they continued the great start to the season. Coming up this Saturday, the Mustang Archers head to Cedar Rapids for the Prairie Archery 3D and Bullseye Tournament.
Solon Archery Tri Bullseye results:The Elementary team had a week off competing against other teams but still had a fun week with a team score of 2,751. That was almost 100 points better than last week. For the girls, Kenlyn Grenis finished in 1st place with a 242. Charlynn Holtz, Natalie Ford, Hayden Hedges, Rowan Gillespie, and Makenna Harris round out the top six. For the boys, Laine Pospisil earned a 1st place finish with a 255. Jack Morgan, Anders Rasmussen, Nathaniel Cook, Elliott Micheel, and Samuel Gondek finished out the top six.
For the middle school team, for the second week in a row, finished in first with a team score of 3114. Paul Morris shot a 285, which was a personal best, to finish in 1st place for the middle school boys and 3rd overall for all boys (fifth-12th). Gunner Steinberg (second) finished with a 280, Finn Plattner (third) shot a 278 and Brinson Grenis (sixth) rounded out the middle school medalist’s with a 271.
Finally, the High School team had a solid tournament finishing with a team score of 3253 and 3rd place finish. Lainey Kelly finished in fifth place with a score of 282. Gabriel Mahoney had a great tournament and shot a 287 for a second place finish. Nathan Nederhiser has another great showing with a score of 281 and third place finish.
