The Mount Vernon Mustang Archery team traveled to South Tama for their first tournament of the 2023-24 Archery Season. After a long season with the team traveling to Worlds in Myrtle Beach, SC in June, the team was ready to get back at it and the archers were focused to start the year! Overall, there were four perfect 50 rounds to start the year and a ton of personal bests. Up next, the Mustang Archers travel to compete against Solon and Prairie at the Solon Tri.
South Tama Bullseye and 3D Tournament results:For the bullseye team results, the mustang archers had a great showing all the way around. The Elementary team finished in first out of three total teams with a team score of 2658. Natalie Ford (2nd), Kenlyn Grenis (3rd), Haylee Hedges (5th), and Hayden Hedges (6th) led the way for the elementary girls. Laine Pospisil finished in 5th for the elementary boys. For 3D, Makenna Harris finish in 3rd place for the girls and Nathaniel Cook finished 4th for the boys.
For the Middle School team, they placed first out of five teams with a team score of 3122. Serenity Robards shot a personal best 273 for a 4th place finish and Trulie Breidinger had a 269 for a 5th place finish. Paul Morris led the middle school boys with a 272 and 3rd place finish. Calvin Crawford (4th), Ryker Lee (5th), and Finn Plattner (6th) rounded out the middle school medalist’s. The 3D team also finished in first place with a score of 1541. Serenity Robards (5th) and Trulie Breidinger (6th) led the girls team. Ryker Lee finished with a personal best 275 and a 1st place finish. Gunner Steinberg finished 2nd with a 266 and Weston Haskell place 5th with a 250.
Finally, the High School team also had a great tournament and finished in first place. Lainey Kelly shot a 285 on her way to a 1st place finish. Natalie Nederhiser shot a 273 for a 6th place finish. Nathan Nederhiser shot a personal best and perfect 50 round to finish in 1st place for the boys. Austin Mercer also had a person best 276 for a 5th place finish. The 3D team took first place with a 1538. Lainey Kelly finished in first place as well as bullseye with a 277. Jae Williams had a great 3D tournament with a 257 and 6th place finish. Payson Burge had a 6th place finish for the high school boys.
