Lisbon senior Ava Czarnecki was named the Tri-Rivers East Player of the Year and Lance Kamaus was the Coach of the Year, it was announced.
Czarnecki ended up third in the state, in any class, in kills per set (5.7). She also had an attack efficiency of .463.
“Ava had one of the best individual seasons in the history of our program,” Kamaus said. “Ava was the focal point of our offense, and responded with an unbelievable individual season.”
Czarnecki was also a first-team pick Tri-Rivers East selection, along with senior libero Addy Happel and sophomore outside hitter Mykala Luzum.
Happel finished fifth in the state, in any class, in digs (490). Luzum-Selmon had 325 kills. Luzum had 325 kills, 268 digs, and set a school record with 83 ace serves (first in 2A).
“Addy wrapped up a great career with a truly great season,” Kamaus said. “We are excited to see the leaps that Mykala will make over the next two seasons.”
Junior setter Kaitlynn Hasselbusch was a second-team pick, and senior Addi Petersen was a third-team selection.
Hasselbusch was second in the state, any class, in assists per set (10.4). Petersen had 80 kills and 54 digs.
“Kaitlynn ran our offense very smoothly,” Kamaus said. “Additionally, she proved to be a great defender and more than capable serve. Kaitlynn’s energy was contagious on the floor.
“Addi was very effective defensively as a blocker. She brought extremely positive energy to the floor.”
Lisbon finished 28-7, losing to West Branch in a Class 2A regional semifinal.
Audrie Helmrich of Edgewood-Colesburg was the POY of the West Division.
