Cornell’s No. 9 regionally-ranked men’s cross country team placed fifth at the Saga Cup Friday, hosted by Luther College.
The Rams scored 147 points in a field that contained five other teams rated in the region with No. 2 Wartburg, No. 5 UW-Stout, No. 8 Grinnell, No. 8 UW-Eau Claire and No. 10 Luther.
Isaak Hutchings and Tony Zamudio both cracked the top 50 in the 104-man field. Hutchings clocked an 8K time of 28:00 for 47th place to lead the Rams. Zamudio set a personal record in 28:04 for 50th.
Ethyn Chesnut finished 58th (28:37), followed by Parker Voigt in 77th (29:36), Anders Mork 92nd (31:22), Luke Wiley 95th (31:42), Owen Vaughan-Fier 98th (32:19.6) and Liam Baldwin 100th (33:09.4).
Wartburg won the team title with 15 points, followed by UW-Stout (50), UW-Eau Claire (88) and Luther (101).
Womens XC
The Cornell women’s cross country team saw Ashley Olvera and Isabella Anderson compete in the Saga Cup, hosted by Luther College Friday.
Both runners set personal records at the 6K distance. Freshman Olvera placed 62nd in 29:44.4, while senior Anderson took 64th in 31:31.6.
UW-Eau Claire finished first in the team race with 24 points, followed by Wartburg (31), UW-Stout (100), Luther (113), and Grinnell (120).
