The City of Lisbon is investigating repair options for the Lisbon City Hall.
City administrator Brandon Siggins noted the damage from a storm earlier this year looks to have had more significant damage than just at the window seams.
“The wall isn’t structurally sound, and it’s going to take a significant amount of work to get it to be so,” Siggins said.
He is trying to see if the damage caused by that storm is covered by insurance or not.
“It’s a $100,000 undertaking to have this fixed at least,” Siggins said. “I didn’t feel comfortable with just siding over this if we could address the repairs at this time.”
Siggins said the damage seems to be at the dead center of the bay of windows where water had flowed in during the storm, as well as at eight feet on either side.
The damage impacts the frames and windowsills, not the actual window glass. Contractors will do what they can to salvage the glass as repairs are made.
The project and repairs are slightly more challenging because of the need to avoid damage to nearby solar panels, and require encapsulation of city hall for a few days.
Council member Nathan Smith asked if keeping the glass windows on the second floor of the building are necessary.
Siggins said he will present more information at the next council meeting on the project.
