The new well installed near the Pleasant Grove Nature Park will be undergoing an additional water quality test.
City engineer Dave Schechinger said the city had received tests that were above the recommended areas, but a faulty contamination could not be ruled out for a few of them.
Schechinger was recommending using a different testing service at the new well to see if similar results are found.
“If we get similar results, then we can work on ways we could treat to negate some of the compounds found in the well,” Schechinger said. “We want to make sure that we need to be treating for some of these compounds to begin with, though, and not just a potential contamination of the first test.”
Schechinger asked to use Northway Well and Pump Company for the second test, as their test for the elements in the well would be $6,150, compared to Cahoy Pump Services with a bid of roughly $29,000 (including the installation and removal of a test pump).
