Fencing has gone up around Lisbon Schools construction sites as work has begun removing concrete.
Superintendent Autumn Pino, elementary principal Justin Brown and secondary principal Jack Leighty commended the public for their understanding and adapting to any changes in pick up and drop off sites for children.
“Any of the requests we are making are to ensure the safety of students during pick-up and drop-off times,” Brown said.
Pino said the school does have contingency plans in place in case teachers need to move classrooms due to the sound of construction possibly disrupting classrooms.
Pino said she is working on subcontractors to highlight what the community will see in the different phases of the construction project.
Brown and Pino commended Peak Construction with their flexibility on the project, especially curtailing work during pick-up and drop-off times at Lisbon Early Childcare Center’s preschool at midday.
“They have been very easy to work with and communicate what we need,” Pino said. “Most of this project is not intrusive into our students.”
Early enrollment numbers show increase at LisbonLisbon’s enrollment numbers are currently higher than they were last school year.
Superintendent Autumn Pino said, at the moment, it looks like the district has 15 more students than were in count for last school year.
“We are definitely seeing growth in our prekindergarten and kindergarten numbers especially,” Pino said.
Pre-K and Kindergarten have 67 students each, first grade 57, second grade 45, third grade 64, fourth grade 63, fifth grade 57, sixth grade 51, seventh grade 31, eighth grade 49, ninth grade 54, 10th grade 53, 11th grade 57 and 12th grade 53. Elementary enrollment is 471 students and secondary enrollment is 297.
“It’s something we continue to monitor, and we are sure numbers might be different when official count for the Department of Education happens in early October, but most of our grades are able to account for the numbers because we have three sections in each grade,” Pino said.
