Kenneth Kistener, 61, Cedar Rapids, was injured in a two vehicle crash Saturday, Sept. 9. He was transported by Lisbon-Mount Vernon Ambulance Service for treatment to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
According to Sgt. Dylan Schmid of the Linn County Sheriff’s Office, Kistener was driving a 2008 Kia Rondo northbound on Cedar River Road approaching Hwy. 30 at 2:43 p.m. Kistener failed to yield the right of way upon entering Hwy. 30 and collided with a 2013 Hyundai Sonata driven by Daniel Franks, 44, Marion, who was eastbound on Hwy. 30. Franks was uninjured in the crash.
After the crash, Kistener fled the scene on a motorized bicycle and was apprehended southbound on Cedar River Road.
The accident remains under investigation and charges are pending against Kistener.
Linn County Rescue, Mount Vernon Fire Department and Lisbon Fire Department also assisted at the scene of the crash.
