The women’s golf at Kernoustie Golf Club was able to continue their fun games and events this summer. Welcoming 26 members this season gave everyone a chance to see familiar and new faces. This summer they were able to crown a new ladies club champion, Nicoli Simmon, shooting an 82 in the field of eight. Runner-up was Karen Martin with a score of 87 along three flight winners Sue McDermott (91), Pat Martin (96) and Susan Pisarik (119). Congratulations to Nicoli Simmon.
The Women’s Eastern Iowa finals were held at West Liberty Country on Aug. 5. The team from Mount Vernon attended as a group of seven. Sue McDermott came out as team medalist with a score of 97 after 18 holes. Team members Tosha Rubner, Karen Martin, Brittany Whitney, Sue McDermott, Meraiah Block, Jenny Lucas and Tammy Pitlik.
