Sauerkraut Days was one of the highest grossing events ever for the festival, according to city administrator Brandon Siggins.
“It was also one of the festivals that had the highest expenses for the committee,” Siggins said. “They’ll know by September how successful the event was and we want to thank everyone for the support.”
Siggins commended all the crews in town who worked to address roads ahead of Sauerkraut Days.
“If you didn’t know we had a water main project that was ongoing, you wouldn’t have known except for the areas where grass didn’t grow,” Siggins said. “Those roads looked fantastic, and the equipment was either to the north or south of town.”
Parks and recreation director Drayton Kamberling said the concession stand at the softball tournament was very successful and thanked the volunteers from his committee, as well as council member Sara Nost and public works director Travis Bagby, for their assistance at the booth during the festival. Kamberling also noted that they had a packed park for the movie in the park event ahead of Sauerkraut Days, and he was truly thankful for the help of new Mount Vernon-Lisbon Police Department officer Esteban Guitterrez, who assisted with move in, distributing popcorn and load out following that event.
The fire department raised $1,300 at the bathtub races.
