The Lions football team started their new season with a modest 6-0 lead after the first quarter with hosts Durant, before they hit the gas and pulled away in the second period, leading 27-0 at the half.
Lisbon padded their lead with another 15 points in the third quarter to come up with the final score of 42-0.
“I am very pleased with the way the boys stuck together as a team and battled through the heat,” said new Lions head coach Dylan Hastings.
“We preach every day that the three things that we can control is our effort, attitude, and toughness. If we can give our best 100 percent every play, and play our assignments, the rest will take care of itself. Our depth and our kids’ attention to details allowed us to try and keep guys fresh and get them the breaks they needed,” Hastings said.
We have great parent and community support as well and they made sure our kids had the proper nutrition and hydration to perform at their best.
Quarterback Dakota Clark threw for 130 yards and three touchdowns in the win, rushing for 87 additional yards and scoring another touchdown that way.
Gage Holub caught two passes for 50 yards and two touchdowns.
Baylor Speidel carried two handoffs to the endzone for a pair of touchdowns.
On the other side of the ball, Matthias Kohl collected eight tackles in the effort.
