The combined city/school election will be held Nov. 7, 2023. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The Linn County Auditor’s Office encourages members of the community to consider becoming a candidate for city and school board offices.
Candidates may file their papers from Monday, Aug. 28 through Thursday, Sept. 21 at 5 p.m. School board candidate paperwork must be filed with the appropriate school secretary. City candidate paperwork must be filed with the Linn County Auditor’s Office, located at 935 Second St. SW in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Candidates must file both a Petition and an Affidavit of Candidacy.

For Lisbon, open seats include Sara Nost and John Bardsley’s on city council, as well as mayor Doug O’Connor’s seat. At the Lisbon School Board, three seats are up for election- Jen Caspers, John Prasil and Abbe Stensland.
In Mount Vernon, mayor Tom Wieseler and council members Craig Engel, Deb Herrmann and Scott Rose’s seats are up for election. At the Mount Vernon school board, the board has an open seat for a two-year vacancy as well as the seats of Denise Brannaman, Nanette Gunn, Lance Schoff and Jeremy Kunz.
