Laura Baxa was named the grand marshal for Sauerkraut Days 2023.
Megan Dietsch explained the committee tries to recognize people who have positive impacts in the community.
Baxa, a 1997 graduate of Lisbon High School, attended Capri College and owns and operates Indulgence Salon in downtown Lisbon since 2005.
“She’s a spirit lifter,” Dietsch said.
Her husband Casey, and their daughters Madison, Brynnley and Kennedy, have all been involved in the happenings around Lisbon.
Laura has assisted with the Halloweentown celebration in the community.
“She has helped to recruit 100s of volunteers,” Dietsch said.
Her business holds a food drive for Southeast Linn Community Center each year as well.
She’s also helped promote Sauerkraut Days activities, dressing up as a can of sauerkraut for many of the parades in other communities to promote the event.
“Her favorite leisure activities are golfing or working on tasks in her yards,” Dietsch said.
She was also previously crowned as Sauerkraut Days queen in 1983,
This year’s royalty was Bower Brokel as King and Leah Kohl as queen.
