The goal this year was $1,000 for the Heather Riniker daycare’s lemonade stand.
After three days of selling lemonade, cookies and other baked goods, the grand total for the lemonade stand was almost $600 more than that goal, with a total $1,593.07.
On Thursday, Aug. 10, the children from the daycare marched with those proceeds to Lillian Hankemeier, two doors down from the daycare. The stand chose Hankemeier as recipient this year, dealing with a cancer diagnosis.
“When we moved to Mount Vernon three years ago, it was because we wanted to live in a small town,” Hankemeier said. “We have never expected this continued support from people to give what they can to us and our family. We’re grateful for the outpouring of support we’ve seen in this community.”
The kids at Heather Riniker’s daycare give the $1,593.07 in donations to Lillian Hankemeir Thursday morning.
