A few of the baristas at Scooter’s Coffee got to spend a portion of their Thursday spreading cheer at Cedar Valley Humane Society(CVHS) with some pup cups. More than 10 pups got a free pup cup treat.
Scooter’s Coffee will also be holding a fundraiser to assist the Humane Society in honor of National Dog Day Saturday, Aug. 26.
On that day 25 percent of the funds raised at Mount Vernon’s Scooters will be donated to the society.
“We wanted to do something to help an organization in our community, and the National Dog Day coming up gave us a reason to partner with Cedar Valley Humane Society,” said Teresa Duling, owner of the Mount Vernon Scooter’s Coffee. “We already hand out pup cups at the coffee shop, and this was just a way to bring a lot more together.”
Leading up to the fundraiser, free-will donations will be collected as well to benefit the cause, with $5 donations getting a free sticker or small stuffed dog from now through Aug. 26.
On Aug. 26 there will also be a chance to name the winning pup king and queen contest, with the winners getting a gift basket from Scooters Coffee and Cedar Valley Humane Society.
“It’s so wonderful whenever anyone in the community wants to help support the humane society and the animals we care for,” said Amanda Knefley of CVHS.
