Michael Miller, 31, Lisbon, was injured in a single vehicle accident along Springville Road Monday, July 31. Miller was not wearing a seatbelt in the crash, and was taken to Mercy Hospital by Mount Vernon-Lisbon Ambulance Service.
According to Sgt. James R. Gales with the Linn County Sheriff’s Office, first responders were notified of a crash at 12:19 p.m.
Miller was southbound on Springville Road in his silver 1991 Ford Crown Victoria. As he was driving and after completing a right-hand curve, Miller approached a dump truck. Miller entered the west shoulder and overcorrected his vehicle, forcing his vehicle to enter the east ditch and strike the driveway culvert at 1601 Springville Road. That collision caused Miller’s vehicle to roll and eject Miller out of the driver’s side window. The vehicle came to rest on it’s top south of the driveway. While airbags did deploy in the crash, the lack of wearing a seatbelt did not keep Miller inside the vehicle.
Miller has been charged with operating while intoxicated first offense, failure to maintain control, no insurance and failure to wear a seatbelt.
Linn County Sheriff’s Rescue, Mount Vernon-Lisbon Police, Lisbon Fire Department and Mount Vernon fire department assisted at the crash scene.
