Noah Erickson and Kaleb Brand were among those receiving postseason honors for the Central College men’s track and field team this spring.
High jumper Sam Beatty (senior, Mount Pleasant) was chosen as the Most Valuable Performer while distance runner Adam Sylvia (senior, Rochester, Mass.) was cited as the Most Improved Performer.
Sprinter Noah Erickson (junior, Mount Vernon) was the Most Valuable Newcomer Award winner and Lucas Heitz (senior, Adel, ADM HS) was given the Dutch Spirit Award.
Heitz, Theo Baldus (fifth year, St. Ansgar) and Caleb Silver (senior, Conrad, BCLUW HS) served as team captains.
Coach Brandon Sturman awarded 27 varsity letters.
Brand, a junior at Central, earned his first varsity letter and was an American Rivers Academic All-Conference. Brand was fifth in the 4×400 relay and sixth in the 400 meters for Central.
Aside from the most valuable newcomer award, Erickson also earned his first varsity letter and placed fifth on the 4×400 relay.
