The City of Lisbon saw more pounds of electronics in the recent city’s bulky item clean-up day, and a reduced amount of scrap iron.
When it came to electronics, the city had 2,320 pounds of collected electronics this year, up from 1,735 pounds in 2022. Cost for that additional 600 pounds of electronics amounted to a $50 increase this year, $584 compared to $533.75 in 2022.
The amount of scrap iron collected at the city site was 6.06 tons this year, costing the city $254.52. Last year, the city had 10.4 tons total for a cost of $416.
Cost for the clean-up day was roughly $1,141.98 overall, up slightly from last year’s cost of $1,090.79.
City clerk Christina Eicher recommended that the city look at hosting a clean-up day for toxic materials next year, noting the number of batteries and lightbulbs that were brought to be disposed of but needed to be turned away. Hazardous waste collectors do not run hours on Saturday, but could possibly have sessions earlier in the same week as the city wide clean-up.
