The Lisbon varsity softball squad just keeps on winning, including nine of their last nine games, and the first two of regional play last week.
The team continues to rule the roost in the Tri-Rivers East conference by a wide margin.
Wednesday, July 5The Lions hosted the Clayton Ridge Eagles in regional action, winning 13-0 in a game abbreviated by the mercy rule after three innings.
Ella Clark was 3-3 at the plate, and she had two RBIs. Peyton Robinson drummed up three RBIs, and her two hits were a triple and a double. Blair Baltes notched a home run in the effort, as well as batting in three of her teammates.
Ryleigh Allgood pitched the shortened game, throwing three innings and striking out five batters.
Friday, July 7
The Alburnett Pirates gave the Lions a much harder time as Lisbon again took to their hometown Bunting Field.
The Lions were first on the board after notching two runs in the first inning, although the Pirates answered one run in the second to make it 2-1.
Lisbon posted another run in the fifth and the sixth, though Alburnett scored two runs of their own in the sixth to make it 4-3, Lions.
The home team was able to hold on to that one-point edge to win the game.
Ella Clark and Addie Clark were the two Lions to post RBIs, with Peyton Robinson adding a double in the low-scoring game.
Allgood again was awarded the win on the mound, pitching seven innings and striking out three.
