Kari Pendergrass was the big winner in the Lions Club Medal Hunt, winning the final $300 prize. Pendergrass had also found the medal Friday, July 7, ahead of the final drawing, at one of the Little Free Libraries in Mount Vernon.
Paul Fugate, Lions Club president, said that the medal hunt was a huge success and the club was very happy with the turnout.
“We know that the July 3 clue we announced at the First Street Community Center library, we had more than 20 people show up to that location looking for the medal,” Fugate said.
One of the seven medals was not turned in during the competition, but was found, hence only six named winners during the contest.
Fugate said the clues for next year’s hunt may be a little more difficult as well, but they definitely want to bring the event back for a second year.
