Streets will be closing beginning this afternoon for the Heritage Days festival in uptown Mount Vernon.
First Street West will close from Hwy. 1 to Second Avenue (Town Center to Lincoln Winebar), beginning at 2 p.m. today.
First Street West will close from Second Avenue to Third Avenue (Mount Vernon City Hall and bank block) beginning at 3 p.m.
First Street East (from Hwy. 1 to First Street Community Center) will close at 6 a.m. Saturday, July 8. One lane of A avenue will be accessible throughout the day Saturday to accommodate the cars on display at the car show.
First Street from Third Avenue to Fifth Avenue will be closed at 6 a.m. Saturday to accommodate the Family Fun Zone at Memorial Park. The streets will reopen at approximately 3 p.m. Saturday July 8.
The parade route stretches from First Street West from the Small Athletic and Wellness Center at Cornell College along First Street West to Fifth Avenue North and ends at Seventh Street. Those roads will be closed during the duration of the parade and open immediately after.
East side of Hwy. 1 will reopen at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 8, after the car show concludes.
The west side of Hwy. 1 will reopen 11:59 p.m. Saturday, July 8, following clean up of the street.
