The city council also approved paying for work to Lisbon Public Library’s exterior from Bennett Painting this summer.
Bennet Painting had painted the west wall of the library building and around some windows, as well as the fire escape, as part of a two-year contract.
Mayor Doug O’Connor asked in the future, if grants are applied for, that there is a note of how much matching grants the city would be responsible for paying for a project.
O’Connor was noting that while the monetary assistance was nice to receive for some projects, having the city responsible for a significant chunk of projects also hurt the council.
“We got to look out for citizens,” O’Connor said.
City administrator Brandon Siggins noted that the council needs to put replacing the upper windows of the Lisbon Library and Heritage Hall on the long-term projects, as those windows could need replaced in the next 10 years.
“There were a few of them that were needing some special care to get in and out while Bennett Painting was working on them,” Siggins said.
