Ethan Wood had three RBIs in the win.
AJ McDermott took the victory on the mound, pitching four innings and striking out five batters.
Game two The Mustangs scored little bit little in the second of two contests, posting runs in every inning except for the third.
Nolan Jackson drummed up three RBIs for the visiting team, while Maddox Rollinger kicked in two more.
Thursday, June 29 The Mustangs hosted conference foes West Delaware two nights later, splitting with the visiting Hawks in a doubleheader.
Game one
The home team was able to get the better of the Hawks in the first of two games, with the Mustangs winning 4-3.
The contest was tied 3-3 as regulation expired, and an eighth inning saw Mount Vernon finding the run they needed to come out on top.
Game two
The Hawks had a big fifth inning in the second game, as they scored five runs.
Both teams scored a pair of runs in the seventh, but the effort was too little and too late for the Mustangs.
