Roughly 61 people attended for a Main Street Iowa downtown forum Tuesday, June 27, in Mount Vernon.
This group of people from around the state were in Mount Vernon to take part in a workshop about downtown design, looking at thing’s like façade renovations, apartment improvements and new and unique ways that businesses embrace new spaces, including First on First and the newly renovated pharmacy space in the uptown.
The group was free to explore downtown Mount Vernon during their lunch hours before completing the workshop, with volunteers from MVLCDG helping to guide people throughout the uptown.

Mount Vernon was a bustling downtown Tuesday, June 27, as members of Main Street Iowa communities across the state came to learn about Mount Vernon area businesses from volunteers, as well as shop, eat lunch and witness the vibrant uptown business district. Joe Jennison is discussing the Hilltop Park and apartments that are able to be visited on the tour to a group of visitors Tuesday afternoon.
