Get your clue searching hats ready. The Mount Vernon Lions Club will be hosting a medal hunt July 1 through July 7.
Paul Fugate, director of the club, said the medal hunt is being explored this year ahead of Heritage Days because the club can’t host their annual golf tournament this year due to the course closing for renovations.
Fugate said that clues will be released via the Lions social media pages (Facebook, Twitter) and at roughly 10 a.m. every day, with the exception of Monday, July 3, which will be a 5 p.m. clue release
There will be seven winners for the event, the first person to find the medal in the city limits of Mount Vernon every day. Those winners will win $25 and be able to keep the medal and will be entered into a $300 grand prize drawing to be announced Saturday, July 8, at Heritage Days.
“It has been a great time engaging the community and our sponsors for this event,” Fugate said. “It has generated a lot of excitement leading up to Heritage Days.”
Rules of the medal hunt are:
1.) If you haven’t already, LIKE the Mount Vernon Lion’s Clubs Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter page and share the event to be considered registered.
2.) Clues will be based on the Medal hiding location.
3.) Medallion will be within the city limits of Mount Vernon.
4.) Medallion will NOT be hidden at the grounds of the cemetery, police station, fire station, school grounds, or public works buildings.
5.) Medallion will be hidden on public property, which includes public businesses and inside businesses as well.
6.) Medallion could be hidden in plain sight or concealed in a container, it may be found on, under, up, down, or behind items, but not buried.
7.) To collect the prize, you must call the phone number found on the back of the Medal.
Please take a selfie with the medallion when and where found and text it to that same number.
8.) You may need a map, you may need some guidance, or maybe what you need is just the help of a local old timer to solve the clues and find the Medal, and if all else fails try Google.
9.) Must be 18 years or older to claim the prize. (Parents or guardians of a minor may claim the prize for them)
10.) No Mount Vernon Lions Member can take part in the “Hunt” or claim the prize!
