The Lisbon Lions baseball team picked up five wins and one loss this week, keeping them atop the Tri-Rivers East Conference standings.
Monday, June 12The Lisbon varsity baseball squad hosted Calamus-Wheatland for a doubleheader Monday, with the Lions defeating the Warriors in both games.
Game One
Lisbon took the first game 4-3.
The first inning ended with the teams locked at one, and the third inning ended tied 2-2. The Warriors posted another run in the fifth to take a 3-2 lead, but the Lions chalked up single runs in the sixth and seventh to pull ahead and win.
Alex Bock, Cohen Kamaus, and Hunter Clark each contributed an RBI to the victory, and Kamaus was awarded the win on the mound, pitching for two and two-thirds innings and striking out four Warriors.
Game Two The Lions took the second game 9-2.
Alex Bock was again key in the Lisbon win, with two hits, two stolen bases, and an RBI.
Luke Czarnecki had a hot bat as well, with two hits, three RBIs, and a home run. The Lisbon graduate also had a stolen base.
Dillon Brayton was given the win as pitcher, throwing just over three innings, and producing five strikeouts.
Wednesday, June 14 It took the Lions just one inning to score all the runs they needed in the game over the Cascade Cougars.
The Cougars jumped out to a 1-0 lead after the second inning, but the third inning found Lisbon chalking up five runs.
Neither team would score for the remainder of the game, and the Lions enjoyed a 5-1 road win.
Dillon Brayton had two hits in the contest, and Alex Bock was one of three to drive in an RBI, along with Cohen Kamaus and pitcher Hunter Clark.
Clark pitched for seven innings, and struck out three.
Thursday, June 15 Game one
The Lions swept the Pirates in a 15-0 win played at Lisbon Thursday, June 15.
The Lions started the wallop with two runs in the first inning, followed by eight in the second inning and five in the third inning.
Bock had three runs for the Lions in the win. Kamaus, Stolte, Brayton, Czarnecki and Jensen each had two runs in the win. Hunter Clark and Kaden Caspers provided the remaining solo runs.
Kamaus had the win, pitching for four innings and striking out two.
Game two The Lions held on for the 3-2 win against Alburnett in the nightcap of the doubleheader.
Alburnett was first on the scoreboard with a solo run in the first inning. The Lions answered with three runs of their own. Alburnett earned one more solo run in the fifth inning, but the Lions held them to that single run for the win.
Bock, Stolte and Brayton had the runs for the Lions in the game.
Czarnecki picked up the win, pitching seven innings and striking out five.
Friday, June 16 The Lions picked up their single loss for the week against Monticello 4-2 in a road game.
Monticello was first on the scoreboard with one run. The Lions answered with two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Monticello tied the game in the second inning with another single run. In the fifth inning, Monticello added another run, and then slammed home another security run in the sixth inning for the win.
