Lisbon Schools approved a $5.9 million contract with Peak Construction Group for the construction of the career technical education wing and new weight room for the school.
According to superintendent Autumn Pino, Peak Construction was the lowest of four bidders with their $5.984 million bid.
Emergent and Peak Architecture are reviewing ways to keep the integrity of the proposed project intact, but also maintain the key components that Lisbon bid in the project so the additions can be constructed in a cost-effective manner.
“The goal is that construction on this project will begin in August and last through the school year,” Pino said. “What’s great about this phase of construction is most of the work on the additions are new building spaces, so the impact to classroom spaces will be minimal as the construction progresses.”
Areas that will see an impact for the public include the Lisbon Early Childcare driveway and the parking lots near the district office, as staging for construction will take away some parking in those adjacent areas. The district did discuss making the entrance and exit to the LECC be the west driveway during the period of construction during May’s meeting.
A revamped lobby, new concession stand and work on the district office are also part of the project, as is looking at improvements to the playground area for the elementary to eliminate some existing drainage issues that impact the grass in those areas throughout the school year. The playground improvements may be one of the last items tackled in the project.
A date for groundbreaking on the new construction projects is slated for later this summer.
