Temperatures were warm Saturday for the Mount Vernon Chocolate Stroll, but the streets were filled with visitors and citizens taking part in the annual festival.
Almost 30 vendors were on site Saturday, with wares including fudge, chocolate covered bacon, cookies, and other chocolate goodies.
Returning this year was the Point 5K race, drawing roughly 15 participants this year in a race from Mount Vernon City Hall to Memorial Park and back again. The fastest time was just a little over two minutes this year.
Also returning after a roughly four year hiatus was the Make it with Chocolate contest, judged at The Nourishing Root this year.
Margaret Player placed first in the youth division with a chocolate mousse pie.
In the adult division, Tara Darling was first with a chocolate pumpkin cake with a ganache.
Second place went to Mary Lou Batenhorst for her triple chooclate cake and Ashlyn Picket was third place with her s’mores cheesecake this year.
Marci Chou was an honorable mention with her triple chocolate cake and Samm Arends with grandma’s chocolate cake.
